Yaron Gan-Or’s
article deals with the meaning of staff crisis during
therapeutic work with youth at “Korat Gag” (Shelter) – Emergency
Center. The crises described by the writer are the daily lot experienced by
the group of therapists. The writer conceptualizes the characteristics of
a staff crisis, by sharing stories of experiences from staff meetings, night
shifts and dealing with youth at the edge of the risk continuum. Not unlike
the article of Kapulnik and Rafael Ashuri, Ganor also raises the question
of Accepting Fracture – how can one survive moments of breakdown and
be empowered by them; how can one contain the brokenness of a patient
experiencing anger, sadness and lack of faith in the therapists, and how
can one turn crisis into an expanse of opportunity for change.
…All summer long the sky was red with suffering
Under its feet, the earth is burning
Between us, there is craziness
And life plays some tricks on us
I search for the silence in me but I don’t find it
Where does all this lead us?

professionals – to the community circle. Articles in the third Section,
“Collecting the Pieces”,
deal with community copingwith crisis in security-
related emergency situations. In her article,
Shira Rainitz
reviews the
professional literature dealing with that management and preservation
of community activists during times of emergency and crisis. The writer
demonstrates how social activity and volunteering reinforce long-term
community strength and helps communities deal with a continuous
emergency (so called “routine of crisis”). The article goes on to describe
the development of public services designed to reinforce community
resilience through the example of community-based Hosen and
emergency teams under the auspices of the Gaza Envelope Communities’
Hosen Centers.
