Hishtil's core activity is the production of vegetatively propagated herbs in a conventional production line & an organic production line. All the herbs are delivered as unrooted or rooted cuttings.Standard tray size for most herbs is a Modiform 153 tray, seedlings are offered in tray sizes of 153 or 264. To reduce cultivation time the R&D team are developing larger 84/66 trays with larger root-balls.These larger young plants will shorten the cultivation time, giving growers more rounds per season, but can also give an opportunity for spot crops between grower's regular cropping plans. The company is probably slightly unusual in that it does not operate any plant breeding of its own.Instead, it chooses to work with many small independent plant breeders, seed companies & plant specialists who regularly create new varieties, a win-win situation for both sides. It also offers independence and there is no emphasis on promoting breeding of its own: every breeder/plant/ seed source is treated equally. Innovation & Creativity Over the years the company has had to face & overcome numerous challenges (climatic, economic, political and environmental). Each time the solution has been found through innovation, something that Hishtil is now well-known for.Investing in innovation drives the business forward & ensures unique products coming along.Innovative technologies and production protocols are continually being honed in order to meet changing market requirements. For example, in the demands to reduce & phase out the use of chemicals. Hishtil has long been at the forefront of plant production with minimum chemical usage, emphasized by regular testing & laboratory tests. This innovation really shines in the production of grafting plants, specialist production of young plants for extreme conditions such as aridity, vegetable plants for the hobby market or the new added value lines of Pepper Trees, Calibrachoa Trees and Basil Trees. Efficient Logistics Logistics are the key: delivering plants to the customer in good condition,on time, every time, regardless of the distance from airports has been part of our success. Each order is organised by the export office in Afula, flown to the destination country and then coordinated by local agents for distribution by truck or courier.
