Dear friends, T he year 2022 was memorable as it marked the 70 th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Israel and Japan. Since 1952 , when Japan became the first country in East Asia to establish diplomatic relations with Israel, the relationship between the two countries has grown stronger year by year. When the Great East Japan earthquake struck on March 11 , 2011 , Israel became the first country to dispatch a medical team to the affected areas, and since then, support beyond the public and private sectors has continued. INSIGHTEC has been a world leader in focused ultrasound incisionless treatment technology. Focused ultrasound precisely treats the target tissue without scalpel by thermal coagulation created by focusing hundreds of ultrasound beams sonicated fromoutside the body onto the target tissue inside the body. Since 1999 , when the company was set up in Haifa, there are more than 150 medical institutions around theworld operating Exablate focused ultrasound surgery system, and the number of employees exceeds 500 globally. InSightec Japanwas established in 2005 , andExablate Body systemobtained Japanese regulatory approval for the treatment of uterine fibroids in 2010 . In 2016 , Exablate Neuro systemobtained regulatory approval for the treatment of essential tremors and became eligible for public medical insurance in 2019 . Exablate Neuro was additionally approved for use in the treatment of Parkinson's disease the following year. Currently, 18 medical institutions are operating Exablate Neuro system, and more than 1 , 500 patients have been treated in Japan. I joined INSIGHTEC in 2004 after coming to Japan in 2000 and studying at Teikyo University andwas appointed President and Representative Director of InSightec Japan K.K. in 2012 . In 2014 , a joint statement on building a new comprehensive partnership between Israel and Japan was signed, and it is expected that the relationship between the two countries will be further strengthened in various fields in the future. InSightec Japanhas been in a cooperative relationshipwith the Israeli Economic and Trade Mission since 2016 by introducing focused ultrasound technology at monthly Israel Business Forums and events promoting Israeli innovative medical technology. In 2017 , InSightec Japan received an award from the Israel-Japan Chamber of Commerce for our contribution to promoting trade between Israel and Japan in the field of medical equipment.
