Until recently, it was difficult for many Japanese companies to have close business connections between the two countries in the shadowof the Arab boycott, which raised concerns in the Japanese business community and for a long time prevented our relations fromflourishing to its full extent. There were pioneers like Subaru who brought the first Japanese cars to Israel, but Japanese companies that were willing to interact with the Israeli economy had been extremely limited. The catalyst, which changed the outlook on our relations, was the visit of Former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo to Israel in 2015 . Before his visit, the number of Japanese companies based in Israel was below 30 , but now, it has become 85 , almost tripled. In recollection of the pathwe took, in thewake of former PMAbe’s initial visit, Japan-Israel business ties have been further expanded via a platform called JIIN (Japan-Israel Innovation Network). JIIN launched in 2017 to promote open innovation through cross-national business cooperation, and IJCC is one of itsmembers. In 2018 , Mr. Abe visited Israel for the second time with a delegation of senior Japanese business leaders, further boosting relations with Israel in diplomatic and business fields alike. Unfortunately, this year we witnessed the horrific and unforgivable assassination of Mr. Abe. Taking this opportunity, I would like to expressmy deep appreciation for thewarmand heartfelt condolences extended to the bereaved family and the Japanese people upon the 読者の皆様へ イ スラエルと日本の経済関係は、現在、歴史的な拡大・成長期にあります。つい最 近までは、多くの日本企業がアラブ・ボイコットを懸念して、両国間で密接なビ ジネス関係を持つことが難しく、長い間、関係が十分に花開くことができませんでし た。イスラエルに初めて日本車を持ち込んだスバルのような先駆者はいましたが、イ スラエル経済と積極的に交流しようとする日本企業は極めて限られていたのです。 関係の展望を変えるきっかけとなったのは、2015年の安倍晋三元首相のイスラエル 訪問でした。彼の訪問以前は、イスラエルに拠点を置く日本企業は30社を切ってい ましたが、今では85社と約3倍に増えました。安倍元首相の初訪問をきっかけに歩ん だ道のりを思い起こせば、 JIIN （ Japan - Israel Innovation Network ）というプラ ットフォームを通じて、日本とイスラエルのビジネス関係をさらに拡大させてきていま す。 JIIN は、国を超えたビジネス連携によるオープンイノベーションを推進するために 2017年に発足し、 IJCC はそのメンバーの一社です。2018年には、安倍総理が日本の ビジネスリーダーの代表団を率いて２度目のイスラエル訪問を行い、外交・ビジネス の両分野でイスラエルとの関係をさらに強化しました。 残念なことに、2022年には、私たちは安倍元首相の恐ろしい、そして許しがたい暗殺 を目撃しました。この機会に、安倍元首相を失ったご遺族と日本国民に向けられた暖 かく心からの哀悼の意と、イスラエル国民が表明した日本へのあらゆる形の連帯に、
