Shin HIROTA | 廣田　新 Dear Readers, I am honored to have the opportunity to greet you in this guidebook, which aims to promote business relations between Japan and Israel. In recent years, business between the two countries has been accelerated by mutual visits by the leaders of both countries, supporting business expansion. There was a period of temporary depression due to the Corona pandemic, but 2021 was a record year, with the highest amount of investment ever made fromJapan into Israel. In addition to investments, new companies fromJapan have started doing business and establishing their entities in Israel, andmany examples of collaborative partnerships have emerged. I believe that the strong business relationship between the two countries is becoming solid. With the 70 th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2022 , the launch of joint research on EPAs, and the scheduled launch of direct flights in 2023 , I feel that there is a tailwind blowing for further strengthening of relations. The business relationship between Japan and Israel has changed its focus from import and export of goods to investment, collaboration, and research&development. The Japanese company has excellent manufacturing capabilities and business networks as well as experience cultivated in the Asianmarket. Israeli companies excel in innovation fromscratch and have outstanding talent with great ecosystems. The growing interest in building new businesses that leverage the strengths of both countries is gaining momentum, and we, the Japan External Trade Organization, are working to connect business opportunities and needs between our two countries, and deepen our relationship.
