Business Guide | Israel-India 2022
Tammy Ben-Haim Kobbi Shoshani Dear Readers, W e are celebrating 30 years of full diplomatic ties between Israel and India this year and a decade since the opening of the Consulate General of Israel to South India. These numbers have meaning; they are filled with partnership, cooperation, mutual admiration, and standing together. One of the best ways to celebrate this occasion iswith this Business Guide. Just by glancing through it one can see the vast possibilities and limitless options infieldswe areworking on together and what we can do side by side in future. Ourmotto for this year is “Ancient Traditions – Innovative Future”. I think it embodies verywell our two countries, their cultures, and peoples. Both of our histories span back millennia, our cultures and traditions are ancient and well rooted, but our countries are young: relatively new and vibrant democracies. We have young and talented populations, andwe are both finding newways to innovate and blend the tradition we have. Israel and India complement and complete each other. Our two countries facemany similar challenges. We have a unique opportunity, byworking together, to take Israeli technologies - developed out of necessity - and test them in the Indian market, before introducing them globally. Together, we can tacklewater safety and security issues, food scarcity, security and cyber challenges, and even climate change. The possibilities are endless. Best of luck to all of us working on deepening and broadening the Israel-India partnership. Tammy Ben-Haim Consul General of Israel to South India Dear Friends, T his year, Israel and India are celebrating the 30 th anniversary of full diplomatic relations. Top leaders of Israel and India are expected to visit each year. In August 2021 , I took charge as theConsul General of Israel inMumbai. In the past I have visited Indiamany times in various professional capacities and every time I visit India, I witness the relations with Israel have strengthened further. There were fewer visits of ministers, captains of the industry, heads of universities and start-up entrepreneurs from both countries due to the Covid- 19 pandemic. But today, we areback to normal and roaring to go forward in the areas such as agriculture and foodtech, water, cyber security and fintech. Israel’s diplomatic relations with the two Gulf countries have opened up new flights routes and business opportunities. This issueof the Israel-IndiaBusinessGuide is coming out at an opportune time.
